Year in Industry and Work Placements

The year in industry is a rewarding and life changing opportunity between levels two and three of your degree. A year is spent in the UK or overseas, working in a professional industry context within the cultural industries, education or other appropriate business. You will enhance your understanding of the skills and knowledge necessary to operate in a professional environment, and explore the opportunities and challenges of a particular economic sector. Above all, you will gain valuable experience and insight into your own capabilities and career development.

Even if you do not choose to do a year in industry there are many opportunities to work with external organisations within the creative and cultural industries sector as an integral part of your studies in the School or as a co-curricular activity.

Typical examples have included: arts organisations, charities, community centres, events management businesses, broadcast media, galleries, local government organisations, public relations firms, marketing & advertising agencies, museums, performance companies, schools, theatres, youth groups.
