The School’s research is, by its very nature, frequently collaborative, international and multidisciplinary. Our REF 2014 impact was graded as 80% at 4*, demonstrating how engagement with the wider world is evident in staff research. The nature of our research is reflected in the school’s research activity at both an individual level and in our Research Groups. Individual PCI researchers are pursuing high level collaborative, international and multidisciplinary work, whilst our Research Groups identify a number of core areas of research strength in the school, and act as catalysts for emerging activity, provide critical feedback on work in progress and support funding bidding activities. Our Research Groups are designed to attract membership from outside the School and outside the University of Leeds. Individual staff may belong to multiple research groups and/or to groups/networks outside the School. Our Postgraduate Research students are also members of these Research Groups, and PCI’s regular attraction of high quality PGR applications is being matched by more scholarship opportunities and successes each year. We have a growing cohort of PGR students and a vibrant research community.
