Within the broad field of Applied Performance her expertise lies in using performance as a means of promoting social agency and engagement. Associate Professor in Scenography and Deputy Head of School
Building on 10 years experience as a set and costume designer and practice-led research into scenography, I have been actively contributing to the development of scenography as an area of academic study internationally. I am the lead author of the Cambridge Introduction to Scenography. In June 2015 I was appointed to chair the international jury for the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space. I am a member of the AHRC peer-review college.

Associate Professor in Audience Engagement; Postgraduate Research Tutor
With a professional background in theatre management and producing, I now lecture and research in areas of audience engagement, arts management, arts marketing and cultural policy. Between 2010–2017, I was engaged an Artistic Assessor for Arts Council England. Since 2014 I have directed the National Summer School for Arts Fundraising and Leadership and recently led the evaluation of the national Arts Fundraising and Philanthropy Programme. I am the Co-Editor of Arts and the Market and have published widely in a number of leading peer-reviewed journals on arts marketing, arts management, cultural policy and cultural value. I am currently running an Arts and Humanities Research Council funded international network for audience research in the performing arts and writing a research monograph on audience engagement, which will be published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2018.
